Transport and Licensing

The Shire of Boyup Brook is an agent for the Department of Transport and can assist with a range of driver’s licence and vehicle registration services.

We can process most transactions and accept payments at the Shire Office between 9.00am and 4.00pm, Monday to Friday.

Driver's Licence Information

You can renew your driver’s licence at the Shire Office, including having your photo taken. When you visit, please remember to bring your renewal notice and current driver’s licence with you.

Your new licence is produced in Perth and will be sent to you by Australia Post within 3–4 weeks.

Learner's Permits

If you’re working towards getting your licence, you can sit your Learner’s Permit Theory Test at the Shire Administration Office between 9.00am and 3.30pm, Monday to Friday. There’s no need to make an appointment.

Practical Driving Assessments in Boyup Brook need to be booked in person at the Shire Office. Spaces are limited each month, so we recommend booking early. Please bring your Learner’s Permit with you when booking.

You can also sit your Hazard Perception Test at the Shire Administration Office between 9.00am and 3.30pm, Monday to Friday. No appointment is required.

Vehicle Registrations

We can assist with a range of vehicle registration services at the Shire Office, including vehicle renewals, transfers and de-registration.

If you’re looking to register an unlicensed vehicle, it will need to be inspected before registration.

We can also accept payments for boat registrations and transfers of ownership. For information about other boating services and requirements, please visit the Department of Transport website.

Special Series District Number Plates

Special Series Number Plates are available to order through the Shire Office.

If you have a particular number plate in mind, contact us to check whether it is available. The relevant forms for ordering your new plates are also available from the Shire Office.

The Shire provides licensing services Monday to Friday, 9.00am – 4.00pm.

Firearms Licence

Payments for firearms licences are now taken at the Post Office.
