Notice is hereby given that the Shire of Boyup Brook Draft Local Planning Strategy (‘the Strategy’), was adopted by Council and granted consent to advertise by the Western Australian Planning Commission on 17 January 2023.

The Strategy applies to the whole of the Shire and:

  1. Sets out the long term (10-35yrs) planning directions for the local government; and
  2. Applies any State planning policy that is relevant to the strategy; and
  3. Provides the rationale for zoning or classification of land under the scheme.

The Strategy plays an important role in setting the direction and informing amendments to the Shire’s Local Planning Scheme No. 2.

The Strategy provides the long term strategic direction for the Shire within the key focus areas of community, urban growth and settlement; economy and employment; environment; and infrastructure.

A total of 19 planning areas have been considered suitable for further detailed investigation for future development.

The Draft Local Planning Strategy is divided into two parts:

  • Part 1 which contains all of the strategies and actions that will be implemented if the Draft Local Planning Strategy is adopted
  • Part 2 which provides the background evidence base from which the strategies and actions are drawn.

Submissions on the Strategy should be lodged with the Shire before close of business on Wednesday 10 May 2023.

Written submissions can be sent to:
