Screening Time at Yagan Square Digital Tower Screen
The Boyup Brook District High School showcase in Pixels banner will be screened on the Yagan Square Digital Tower from 29 July to Sunday 11 August (excluding Sunday 4 August) at 12.22pm.
If you happen to be in Perth during this time keep an eye out for the Boyup Brook banner and check out the display of community artwork.
The ShoWcAse in Pixels Competition (formerly known as Banners in the Terrace) is an annual exhibition of artwork from Local Governments. Traditionally, the artwork, in the form of physical banners, was hung on the poles along St Georges and Adelaide Terrace in Perth. This year the artwork will be a digital display on the tower at the heart of Yagan Square in the Perth CBD from Monday 29 July - Sunday 11 August.
Congratulations to Meriol Beatty and her middle school art students. The below description of the artwork is included in the 2019 submission.
This banner was designed and painted by the Middle School Art students at Boyup Brook District High School so fits into the Secondary school (Year 7-12) category.
We have a NEW awareness in our community of the need to take ACTion regarding the growing number of people of all ages suffering with mental health problems. We thought that the sense of BELONGING, INCLUSIVITY and CONNECTION in our little community meant that no one need ever 'WALK ALONE'. We have included youth from all walks of life gathered around a campfire as this is a common occurrence in the winter months in the district. Campfires give us the opportunity to gather together, share our joys, talk about our problems and support one another. We have applied water based outdoor paint onto Hardiflex board so that the banner can be displayed permanently in the town.
