Together, We've Got This!
Boyup Brook Emergency Preparedness Week 2026 – A Community Success!
What a fantastic week of community spirit, shared knowledge and coming together!
The Shire of Boyup Brook would like to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who helped make our inaugural Emergency Preparedness Week, held from 1–7 October 2026, such a wonderful success.
The week was all about bringing our community together, sharing practical information, building connections, and helping everyone feel a little more prepared for whatever emergencies might come our way. And we certainly couldn't have done it without the support of so many wonderful people and organisations!
A big thank you to our local businesses!
Boyup Brook Pharmacy, Boyup Brook IGA, Boyup Brook Tyre Service, Big Country Mechanical, Boyup Brook Co-Op, Boyup Brook Community Resource Centre, and AFGRI Equipment all contributed to making the week informative, practical and relevant to our local community.
A special thank you to AFGRI for their generous donation towards our children's prize packs. Encouraging our younger generation to learn about emergency preparedness is an important part of building a safer community for the future.
Our volunteers – the heart of our community!
We are incredibly fortunate to have such dedicated people willing to give their time and knowledge to help others. A huge thank you to the volunteers from Boyup Brook St John Ambulance, Boyup Brook Volunteer Fire & Rescue Service and our local Bush Fire Brigades for their involvement and continued commitment to keeping our community safe.
Special thanks also go to Pete Jennings and Trevor Douglas for their valuable contributions, and to our Community Champion, Adrian Price, for getting involved and supporting the initiative.
Your generosity, enthusiasm and willingness to share your experiences are what make community events like this possible.
Bringing services and community together
We also sincerely thank the representatives from the Department of Communities and the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) who travelled to Boyup Brook to share their knowledge, answer questions and, just as importantly, listen to the stories and experiences of our local residents.
These conversations help build stronger relationships between our community and the agencies that support us before, during and after emergencies.
And to everyone who came along – THANK YOU!
Whether you attended a presentation, stopped by to browse the displays, asked a question, brought the kids along or simply popped in for a chat, your participation made the week worthwhile. Emergency preparedness isn't just about firebreaks, emergency kits and evacuation plans. It's also about knowing who to turn to, understanding the resources available locally and looking out for one another.
Looking ahead...
The overall success of the week has given us plenty of encouragement to make Boyup Brook Emergency Preparedness Week an annual event. We hope to build on what we've started, bringing even more local businesses, volunteers, agencies and community members together in future years.
Our theme for the week was:
"Together, We've Got This!"
And that really sums up what the week was all about.
We may be a small rural community, but we have something incredibly valuable, people who care, people who volunteer, people who share their knowledge and people who look out for their neighbours.
Because when we work together, share what we know and support one another, we build a stronger, safer and more resilient Boyup Brook.
From the Shire of Boyup Brook Emergency Services Team, thank you for being part of it!
