Council Meeting Highlights - Ordinary Council Meeting 30 April 2026

At its Ordinary Council Meeting held on 30 April 2026, Council considered a number of matters relating to governance, financial management, land use, community planning and asset management.

Council noted the current position in relation to outstanding rates, with a total outstanding rate debt of $640,732.49 as at 10 April 2026. Council also adopted amended Terms of Reference for the Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee, including the introduction of independent member roles to strengthen governance and oversight.

Council resolved that elected member sitting fees and allowances will remain at 2025/2026 levels for the 2026/2027 financial year, and that the elected member ICT allowance will not be paid in 2026/2027.

Council endorsed tender evaluation weightings for the future lease of Shire farmland, with a strong focus on local content and local benefit. The Shire of Boyup Brook Public Health Plan 2026–2031 was also endorsed.

In response to uncertainty around Forest Products Commission rate-equivalent payments, Council resolved to pause the Community Grants Program as an interim financial management measure, while maintaining current Memorandum of Understanding funding for the final year and reviewing the model before expiry on 30 June 2027.

Council also approved the sale of Lot 38 Mitchell Avenue, Boyup Brook, authorised public advertising for the proposed disposal of Lot 1 (60) Forrest Street, Boyup Brook, and approved a development application for warehouse/storage infrastructure at Lot 13129 Bridgetown–Boyup Brook Road, subject to conditions.
