Base Place - Drop- In Centre for Youth
'Base Place’ is a drop-in centre for youth aged 9-15 which operates on a Wednesday afternoon from 2.30pm till 5.00pm from the Shire of Boyup Brook Community Centre. We are well situated for those who also wish to take advantage of the Shire skate park facilities.
‘Base Place’ is mainly run by the shire employed Youth Officer and occasionally by volunteers all of whom have current working with children checks and police clearances.
Activities to be enjoyed include pool, air hockey, wii, badminton, art and craft, music and movies. A small, healthy afternoon tea is also provided.
‘Base Place’ occasionally run workshops for attendees including woodworking, felting, origami, digital art and jewellery making. Workshops are generally free or at a very low cost.
Youth attending ‘Base Place’ are supervised while inside the Community Centre however as the youth are free to come and go as they please supervision is limited once the youth are outside the Community Centre.
Restroom facilities including disabled toilets are situated on the outside of the Community Centre and those attending are asked to be respectful of the fact that these facilities are for the public and must be respected at all times.
‘Base Place’ is a Shire funded program and provides a healthy, fun and safe environment for local youth to meet and interact on a regular basis.
